Throughout the admissions process, our website looks forward to getting in touch with you whether you are applying as a high school graduate, transfer, adult learner, or returning student. Admission is available! Join students from around the world in pursuing big opportunities at their university. You will engage in a special type of learning that is tailored to your interests and goals at St. Thomas.

The following dates are the deadlines for receiving applications, application fees, and supporting documentation at the admissions office: International applicants are advised to finish and submit their applications, along with any necessary supporting documentation, by June 1 for admission in September and by October 1 for admission in January. Although applications will still be accepted after certain dates, late applicants run the risk of running out of time to secure student visas and other forms of authorization.

St.Thomas University Application Dates and Deadlines

The following deadlines for submitting applications, the application fee, and supporting documentation are: STU apply 2025

High School Applicants

  • Scholarship deadline – March 1
  • Application deadline – August 31. A small number of students are traditionally accepted in January. Students will be admitted beginning in October for the January semester.

Applicants to Education and Social Work Programs

  • Bachelor of Education – January 15
  • Bachelor of Social Work – April 30
  • Master of Social Work – January 30

International Applicants

International applicants are advised to finish and submit their applications, along with any necessary supporting documentation, by June 1 for admission in September and by October 1 for admission in January.

St.Thomas University Admission Entrance Requirements

Bachelor of Arts

The Bachelor of Arts program is open to high school applicants, transfer applicants, returning students, and adult learners.

Bachelor of Applied Arts

The Bachelor of Applied Arts programs are offered in conjunction with the New Brunswick Community College.

Bachelor of Education

For consideration for this program, applicants must either hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or be a candidate for the degree by May 15 in their year of application. (Please Note: there is no direct entry to this program from high school).

Bachelor of Social Work

For consideration for this program, applicants must have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours in liberal arts courses from a recognized university. (Please Note: there is no direct entry to this program from high school).

Master of Social Work

Consideration for this program is restricted to individuals with a bachelor’s degree.

Certificate Programs

Special admission requirements apply. (Please Note: there is no direct entry to this program from high school).

St.Thomas University Application Steps

STEP 1: Create an Account on the Application Portal

  • To create your future student account, go to STU.ca/signup.
  • Visit STU.ca/admissions to review the prerequisites for admission. To obtain a comprehensive list of their entry requirements, click on your native province or nation.

STEP 2: Submit Your Application—Admission Opens October 1

  • Log in to your account at STU.ca/myaccount
  • Click “Start New Application.”
  • Submit the required information
  • Pay the $55 ($40 for applicants from New Brunswick) non-refundable application fee at the end to complete your application.

STEP 3: Send Your Official Documents

  • Canadian High School Applicants- Please send your high school transcript to the admissions office at admissions@stu.ca or ask your institution to do so.
  • International Applicants-International applicants whose first language is not English must also make arrangements to have an official copy of their English proficiency test results delivered directly to the Admissions Office in addition to submitting a high school transcript. The ETS institution code for St. Thomas University is 0803. International candidates who claim to be Permanent Residents are required to submit a photocopy of their identification documents.
  • Transfer, Returning, or Senior Applicants-Send the admissions office your official transcript(s) from any university you have attended or are currently attending. A final high school transcript should be provided by transfer students who are currently enrolled in their first term of university study and who desire to transfer for the January session of their first year.
  • Adult Learners-Send in a typed letter of 1-2 pages outlining your educational history, professional experience, and future academic plans. Academic records from high school or a GED, if applicable, must also be submitted by mature applicants.

Your application checklist will be updated in 3-5 business days after they have received your relevant papers. Once you have been admitted, you will receive an email directing you to check your applicant site to access your official offer of admission and the next steps.
