Interested in submitting an application to the University of New Brunswick for the 2025–2026 academic year? We’ve made it simple to find the solutions you require. Depending on the program you’re applying to, different criteria may apply for admission.

The add/drop date for full-session courses is the last day to apply for each term (normally two weeks into the start of a term). You will not be permitted to submit an application that you started but did not finish before this deadline. Your application won’t be processed for evaluation if it was submitted but is incomplete. Additional deadlines, which differ per program, may be implemented at the Faculty or Department level. Look at their list of programs to determine if you qualify for your desired program.

University of New Brunswick Important dates and deadlines

General

  • March 1: Applications for undergraduate scholarships are due
  • March 31: Last day to apply for undergraduate programs

Nursing

  • Feb. 15: Application deadline for Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Health Sciences
  • Nov. 15: Application deadline for Advanced Standing Nursing Program (Moncton campus)

Education

  • Dec. 15: Bachelor of Education (Fredericton campus)
  • Jan. 31: Concurrent Bachelor of Education (Saint John campus)

English language requirements-Direct entry

For direct admittance into the majority of academic programs, undergraduate applicants whose first language is not English must meet the following minimal English language competence scores:

  • TOEFL IBT with a minimum overall score of 85
  • IELTS or IELTS Indicator with a minimum overall score of 6.5
  • CAEL CE or CAEL Online with a minimum overall score of 60
  • Pearson PTE with a minimum score of 59
  • Cambridge English Assessment B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 proficiency with a minimum score of 176
  • Duolingo with a minimum overall score of 115

How to Apply to the University of New Brunswick

Step 1.

Choose your program- Over 30 departments and faculties at UNB provide a wide range of programs.

Step 2.

Review the admission requirements sure you have the relevant program admissions information, which can be found on each program page, as admittance requirements vary between programs. Some programs want supervisors in advance; the contacts for each program’s supervisors are included on its page. All students must submit their undergraduate and/or graduate transcripts in addition to three reference letters.

International applicants: If English is not your first language, Official English-Language Test Scores are required. They advise you to apply at least six months in advance.

Step 3.

Apply The online application for UNB is simple to use, and you can save your application at any point and submit documents.

Step 4.

Upload program-specific documentation for many programs, you will also need to attach supporting documents including your resume, transcripts*, statement of interest, writing sample, and GRE or GMAT scores. There must be three references (requests submitted electronically by applicants).
Scores from the Official English-Language Test are required if English is not your first language. These documents are described in the list of programs.

Step 5.

Submit your application will be prompted to pay the application cost when you submit your application. Your application will be sent to the appropriate department for consideration after your payment has been received and it is complete. Processing applications typically takes four to six weeks.
Applications may take longer to process depending on the program.
