Brown Academic Fall 2025
SEP 2………..Opening Convocation at 4:00 p.m.EDT
SEP 3……….. Classes of the first semester begin.
SEP 16………. Last day to add a course without a fee (5:00 p.m. EDT deadline). Banner Web will be taken down for approximately one hour. Once relaunched, all course adds require Instructor override and will be charged a late fee of $15 per course.
OCT 13………Indigenous Peoples’ Day. No University exercises.
OCT 17………Last day to change from credit to audit in a course (5:00 p.m. EDT deadline).
OCT 18……..Mid-semester.
NOVEMBER WED, NOV 26 UNTIL SUN, NOV 30……..Thanksgiving recess begins Wednesday at noon EST.
DEC 1……….Classes resume.
DEC 7………Beginning of Reading Period (optional and at the instructor’s discretion).
DEC 11…….Classes end for courses not observing the Reading Period. Last day to drop a course (5:00 p.m. EST deadline) or to request an incomplete from an instructor.
FRI, DEC 12 UNTIL SAT, DEC 20………….Final Examination Period (inclusive of Sunday).

JANUARY
JAN 19………………..Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. No University exercises.
JAN 21…………………Classes of the second semester begin.
FEB 3…………………..Last day to add a course without a fee (5:00 p.m. EST deadline). Banner Web will be taken down for approximately one hour. Once relaunched, all course adds require Instructor override and will be charged a late fee of $15 per course.
FEB 14 UNTIL TUE, FEB 17……….Long weekend. No University exercises.
FEB 18………………. Classes resume. Last day to add a course (includes late fee), change from audit to credit, or change a grade option declaration (5:00 p.m. EST deadline).
MAR 6……………….Last day to change from credit to audit in a course (5:00 p.m. EST deadline).
SAT, MAR 7………..Mid-semester.
SAT, MAR 21 UNTIL SUN, MAR 29………Spring Recess.
MAR 30…………… Classes resume.
APR 24…………… Reading Period begins and will end on May 6 (optional and at the instructor’s discretion).
MAY 5…………….. Classes end for courses not observing the Reading Period. Last day to drop a course (5:00 p.m. EDT deadline) or to request an incomplete from an instructor.
TUE, MAY 5……..Reading Period ends.
WED, MAY 6 UNTIL FRI, MAY 15………..Final Examination Period (No exams on Sunday, May 10)
SUN, MAY 24…….Commencement.
