Universities Admissions Centre (UAC)

The Universities Admissions Centre (AUC) is a private company that operates within Australia and processes applications for admission to most of the undergraduate and postgraduate courses at participating institutions in NSW and the ACT.

The Main Objectives

The main objectives of the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) are to:

• process applications for admission to many postgraduate courses
• calculate and provide the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) to NSW HSC students
• process applications for Educational Access Schemes (EAS)
• process applications for some Equity Scholarships (ES)
• process applications for some Schools’ Recommendation Schemes (SRS).

To its applicants, tertiary institutions, schools, parents, government education departments, statutory authorities, and other groups, UAC is dedicated to providing first-rate service.

In collaboration with their participating institutions, the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) continuously explore ways of improving their service and the way in which they deliver it, and promotes equity of access to tertiary education.

UAC is a private company that operates within Australia and by virtue of its governing rules and its service to the community is a not-for-profit entity under sections 50-10 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (Cth).

As Australia’s biggest admissions office, UAC excels at serving participating institutions, prospective students, and other parties involved in higher education.

Apply for a University Through UAC

In order to apply for undergraduate and postgraduate (coursework) study through UAC, you must be:

• an Australian or New Zealand citizen
• a permanent resident of Australia
• the holder of an Australian permanent resident humanitarian visa.

You can also apply for undergraduate study through UAC if you are an international student who has completed or is undertaking one of the following qualifications in 2021 or 2022:

• an Australian Year 12 in or outside Australia
• an International Baccalaureate Diploma
• a New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3.

Everyone else must apply directly to the university.

How to Apply for a University through UAC

If you want to apply to a university to study an undergraduate or postgraduate program for the 2023-2024 academic year using the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC), follow the steps below:

1. Go to UAC application website at www.uac.edu.au
2. Click on the “Apply or log in” button at the top right of the page
3. Then, select the application type.
4. Follow the prompts to start your application
5. Fill in the spaces provided with your personal details.
6. Provide details of your studies and qualifications.
7. Select your course preferences.
8. Accept the applicant declaration and pay for your application.
9. Complete and submit the application online.

After submitting your application, you have to sit back and keep track of your application. In order to check or track the status of your application, please, use the steps below

1. Log in to your application status portal
2. Keep track of its progress
3. Change your preferences if you want to
4. Log in to check your offers.

Applying Directly to the University

For undergraduate programs, some of the participating universities also accept direct applications. This indicates that you can apply to the institution both directly and through the UAC.

We strongly advise against duplicating your course options if you submit both a direct application and a UAC application. Utilize both applications to their full potential and select unique preferences for each. In this manner, you might get offers for various courses.
