Are you ready to apply? If you are planning to apply to Simon Fraser University (SFU) for the 2026–2027 academic year, it is important to know the application dates for each intake. For Fall 2026 (post-secondary/transfer applicants only), the application window is open from March 1, 2025, to April 15, 2026. For the Summer 2026 term, applications are accepted from December 1, 2025, to January 15, 2026, and for Spring 2026, the application period runs from August 1, 2025, to September 15, 2026. Admission decisions are made public beginning in February and continue through the summer.

Simon Fraser University is one of Canada’s top research-intensive universities, offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs across its three campuses in British Columbia. SFU does not offer general admission; instead, each program has its admission requirements and review timeline. You are free to apply to as many programs as you like during the application period. The application process begins by creating an account on the EducationPlannerBC platform, where you will complete the online form, submit required documents, and pay the non-refundable application fee.

Required documents may include official transcripts, proof of English language proficiency, a résumé or CV, and program-specific materials such as a portfolio or research proposal. After submitting your application, you can track your status and submit additional materials through SFU’s student portal, goSFU. Each program follows its review phase after the deadline, and decisions are communicated on a rolling basis. February 7, 2026- Deadline to submit the Supplemental Application to the Beedie School of Business and the Sustainable Energy Engineering program (Fall). Deadline for Beedie School of Business and Sustainable Energy Engineering applicants to submit interim grades (Canadian high school students to self-report their grades; all others to submit interim transcripts)
February 28, 2026 -Deadline to submit all documents required for admission (Fall) for high school applicants
March 31, 2026 -Deadline to self-report grades (Fall) for high school applicants.Deadline to change programs (first choice and alternate) (Fall)

Simon Fraser University Required Documents For Application 2026-2027

Any paperwork needed to process your application will show up on your Student Centre to-do list. Please give your application checklist 4-6 weeks to update with any necessary document changes. SFU admissions

Your application’s supporting materials must be accompanied by only official paperwork. If your document was sent within the deadline, your application won’t be rejected.

An Official Document/Transcript:

Is issued directly from the educational institution in a sealed envelope
Bears the original institutional seal, stamp, or signature
Is it in the original language of instruction

Electronic Transcripts

They accept electronic transcripts directly from the following institutions:

Capilano University
Douglas College
Fraser International College
Kwantlen Polytechnic University
Langara College
University of Fraser Valley
Vancouver Island University

After you have applied for admission to SFU, you must request the transcript from your school.
Transcripts are delivered via a digital data file.
Once a week, their office uploads these documents (generally on Wednesdays).

Simon Fraser University Admission Requirements 2026-2027

You may transfer up to 60 units toward your degree program, but you must have attempted at least 24 units of transferable post-secondary coursework. Also, you must fulfil the deadlines for high school applications and admission if you have taken between 9 and 23 units and are in excellent academic standing (you have a minimum GPA of 2.0).

You won’t be accepted if your standing is bad and/or your GPA is under 2.00 (60%) percent. Entry is competitive. Depending on the program, the typical GPA for admission in the past varied from 2.50 to 3.50. Based on all attempted transferrable courses, an admission average is determined.
The highest course attempt, if you retake a transferred course for admission, will be used to calculate your GPA.

You must meet the English language entrance requirement and the quantitative skills requirement in addition to the general and program-specific admission requirements (given below).
If you don’t complete your college or university work according to these rules, they could ask for your high school transcript.

How To Apply Online at Simon Fraser University 2026-2027

There are 3 phases to the online application, and they suggest that you complete them before the program deadline:

Filling Out the Application

The online application form takes about 45 minutes to complete. You will be asked to provide personal identification details, your academic history, and other relevant information. During this step, you will also send out requests to your referees.

Paying the Application Fee

Make sure to submit your application fee 5 to 7 days before the final deadline to allow time for processing.

The fee is $90 for applicants with Canadian transcripts
$125 for applicants with international transcripts:
