Unisa Application Fee for 2026

All new applicants are required to pay an application fee of R140. This fee applies only to individuals who do not yet have an official Unisa student number.

When paying the fee, be sure to use the student number provided by Unisa and include the correct application fee allocation number as your reference to ensure your payment is processed correctly.

Required Documents To Apply For Unisa 2026

The following documents are required to complete the online application for the 2026 academic year;

  • Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate, National Senior Certificate)
  • Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
  • Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID/passport (international students)
  • Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
  • Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans

NOTE:

  • Files may not be larger than 2MB (2048KB) each.
  • Only black and white documents may be submitted.
  • Only the following file types are allowed: PDF (Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format file), DOC (Word document file) or TIF (image file)

The due date for uploading the required documents is the closing date for applications. No documents submitted after the closing date for applications will be accepted. Unisa does not provide scanners or electronic devices. Please ensure that your documents are scanned and uploaded to an electronic device before starting the application process.

How To Apply Online For Unisa 2026

The University of South Africa accepts applications via the online application system on their official website. Follow the step-by-step guide below to complete the online application process:

  • Go to Unisa website: www.unisa.ac.za
  • Click the “Admission” tab at the top menu
  • Click on the “Apply for Admission” link
  • Choose your qualification level (Undergraduate/Postgraduate)
  • Select your option (first-time applicant/returning student)
  • Click on “Start the process” to begin your application

Unisa will assess your application, which includes the points score system. You may be offered a space for semester 1 of the 2026 academic year based on the following:

  • Your minimum academic points score (APS)
  • Meeting the academic admission requirements for your qualification of choice
  • The number of spaces available for the qualification for which you have applied.

Applicants who do not qualify for admission will get feedback as soon as their applications are processed, and those who qualify for admission will only receive final feedback as to whether or not Unisa will offer them a space 2026 academic year once all applications received by the closing date have been processed.
