University of Bristol Undergraduate Courses Application 2025/2026
The University of Bristol is one of the most popular and successful universities in the UK, ranked 61st in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2025. Freshmen applicants, transfer students, returning and transient students, as well as international applicants, are all invited to apply for admission into the 2025/2026 academic year. Mostly, the application window for the University of Bristol opens from September through January. If you are applying through UCAS, the application deadline to submit your application for 2025 is on the 29 of January.
Bristol University offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses and programs. University of Bristol Application Deadline For Undergraduate Courses 2025/2026:
- 30 April 2024 – 2025 entry courses will be shown in our search tool.
- 14 May 2024 – you can start your undergraduate application for 2025 entry courses, but you cannot submit it to UCAS until 3 September 2024.
- 15 October 2024 at 18:00 (UK time) – deadline for any course at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, or for most courses in medicine, veterinary medicine/science, and dentistry. You can add choices with a different deadline later but don’t forget you can only have five choices in total.
- 29 January 2025 at 18:00 (UK time) – deadline for the majority of courses.

University of Bristol Application Requirements For Postgraduate Courses 2025/2026
- The main requirement to apply for a master’s degree is usually a bachelor’s in a relevant subject. However, postgraduate admissions guidelines vary by course and university and can be quite flexible
- All applicants must have a minimum of CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) B2 in all four language skills (listening, reading, writing, speaking) which can also be phrased as IELTS Academic 5.5 (or equivalent) in all bands.
- This minimum requirement applies regardless of decisions made relating to the individual’s circumstances. If this is not evidenced by a Secure English Language Test (SELT) or authorized exemption, alternative means of establishing the required proficiency must be recorded in the application file.
University of Bristol Application Requirements For International Applicants 2025/2026
If you are not a UK or EU applicant, you will need the following to be admitted into Bristol University for the 2025/2026 undergraduate courses:
High school diploma
Bristol University will consider applicants with a high school diploma (or equivalent) with a GPA of 3.2 minimum (3.4 for competitive courses) and at least two AP tests with a score of at least 4 (more commonly 5). The final required qualification can be any of the following:
- New SAT (evidence-based reading and writing section only) with a minimum of 650
- ACT with a minimum score of 24
- A third AP with a score of at least 4 (more commonly 5)
Some courses require a specific test score:
- Any course asking for maths must have specifically AP Calculus BC at grade 5.
- If taking Physics we accept AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, or both AP Physics C tests. These can be used where courses ask for an additional Maths/Science related subject (e.g. some Engineering courses)
Foundation/bridging program
- Students who have completed either the University of Bristol International Foundation Programme or an appropriate foundation/bridging program such as those offered by our partners, and have met the entry requirements for their chosen degree, will be considered for admission to undergraduate courses.
Associate’s degree
An associate’s degree is acceptable for direct entry into our bachelor’s degree courses.
- For courses with A-level requirements of A*A*A, a GPA of 3.6 or better is required.
- For courses with A-level requirements of A*AA, a GPA of 3.4 or better is required.
- For courses with A-level requirements of AAA, a GPA of 3.3 or better is required.
- For courses with A-level requirements of AAB, a GPA of 3.2 or better is required.
- For courses with A-level requirements of ABB, a GPA of 3.0 or better is required.
IB Diploma or A-levels
- Applicants with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or A-levels will be considered for direct admission to our bachelor’s degree courses. Check our undergraduate course listings for specific requirements.
The first year of university
- Applicants who have completed the first year of a US university degree will be considered for admission to the first year of bachelor’s degree courses.
If you are an international applicant applying for a Postgraduate course at Bristol University, you will need the following:
To be considered for admission to a master’s degree program at the University of Bristol, the minimum requirement for entry is an undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree that is equivalent to a UK upper second-class degree (also known as a 2:1).
- A CGPA of 3.3 or above is considered equivalent to a UK upper second-class degree.
- Applicants who hold a two-year US master’s degree or a one-year UK master’s degree will be considered for admission to PhD study. A research proposal is required.

All postgraduate applicants are to follow the following process to apply:
Find a program:
- Search the postgraduate online prospectus to find your program. Read the admissions statement for information on entry requirements, the application process, and the supporting documents required.
Start your application
You can either select Apply Now on the program’s prospectus page or head straight to the online application portal.
New applicants will need to create a new account. Returning applicants can use their existing username and password. You can save your application and return it to continue it later. Make sure you:
- Make sure you enter your details as they appear on your passport or legal documents.
- Enter a current email address that will be valid beyond the end of the academic year, as we will use this to contact you about your application.
Upload Your Documents
The application form contains multiple sections you need to complete before you can submit your application. You can see each section on the left of the screen. Check the admissions statement for the documents you need to support your application. Upload your references to the Referees section if you already have them. Or, tell us your referee’s email address and we will email them to submit the reference online.
Documents must:
- include the file extension appropriate to its format,
- not be password protected,
- not contain macros.
Read Through Your Application
- Check each section in your application carefully. Make sure you have answered all the questions and uploaded all the documents required in the admissions statement for the program.
Submit your application
- You may need to pay an application fee before you submit your application if a program requires an application fee.
