  • Early Action Admission deadline (non-binding) is November 15, 2025
  •  Housing application deadline for priority consideration is February 1, 2026
  • Scholarship consideration deadline (must have completed all admission requirements) is February 15, 2026
  • Final day to complete Advanced Registration and retain scholarship offers is June 15, 2026
  • Freshman application deadline for Fall 2026 is August 1, 2026
  • Final day to accept admission for Fall 2026 is August 4, 2026

Spring 2027 Semester

  • Application deadline for Spring 2027 is January 13, 2027

Admission Requirements To Apply To UNR 2026-2027

To be admitted as a new freshman at the University of Nevada, Reno, you must graduate from an accredited or University-approved high school or home school. GED certificates are not accepted. You must also meet the course and GPA requirements below.

Required High School Coursework

You need to complete these core courses:

  • English (4 years): Composition, literature, or rhetoric
  •  Mathematics (3 years): Algebra I or higher-level math
  • Natural Science (3 years): Biology, chemistry, or physics, with at least 2 years of lab science
  • Social Studies (3 years): U.S. history, world history, geography, or economics

GPA Requirement

  • A 3.0 weighted GPA in core subjects (English, math, natural sciences, social studies) is required. Weighted GPAs account for honors, AP, and IB classes.
  • If you do not meet this GPA, you may be admitted to a Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) community college. After completing 24 transferable credits with at least a 2.5 GPA, you can transfer to the University.

High School Diploma Requirement

  • Students with an Advanced Diploma from a Nevada high school are admitted even if their GPA is below 3.0, as long as all 13 core courses are completed.
  • You must submit your final, official high school transcript with your application.

How to Apply UNR as a New Freshman 2026-2027

Step 1: Create Your Application Account

  • Go to the University’s online application portal to start your application.
  • After you enter your registration details, you will receive an email with a temporary registration PIN.
  • Use this PIN to complete your registration and gain access to your online application.

*Step 2: Complete and Submit Your Application

  • The application portal will guide you through the process based on your student type.
  • After filling in all the required information, review it carefully and click “Finalise application” to submit.
  • Note: Returning students must complete a readmission application.

Step 3: Check Confirmation Emails and Activate Your MyNEVADA Account

  • After submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation email.
  •  If you do not see the email, check your spam folder and mark unr.edu as a safe sender.
  • Within 24 to 48 hours, you will receive another email with your student ID number and instructions to set up your MyNEVADA account.

This account allows you to:

  • Track your application status
  • Accept or decline admission offers
  • Review fees and make payments
  • Access your student dashboard

Step 4: Submit Supporting Documents

To complete your application package, you need to provide additional documents:
