The application window for Buckinghamshire New University is now open to all prospective students who wish to further their academics in both undergraduate and postgraduate studies. At BNU, there is no discrimination meaning whether you are a UK or EU applicant, or an international applicant, provided you meet the admission and the entry requirements of the course you wish to study, you are sure of admission.

Currently, the acceptance rate of Buckinghamshire New University is 81%. Because of the education it provides, the research it does, and the good effects it has on the environment and the surrounding communities, the university is proud to make a difference. Over 300 career-focused degrees in a variety of subject areas are available to students.

For undergraduates, other well-liked programs include those in finance, behavioral sciences, acting, animation, artificial intelligence, computers, business management, costume design, cybersecurity, graphic design, data science, education studies, and so on. Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements for our three-year programs, or those who do not feel fully prepared for first-year entry, can be considered for the four-year program including a foundation year. Applicants to these will have typically achieved between 32-56 UCAS tariff points. Applicants are required to have a minimum of IELTS 5.5 in all areas for courses with a foundation year.

  • The deadline for applying for our MSc Applied Positive Psychology is 31 July of the year of entry. Late applications may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
  • The application deadline to submit your Buckinghamshire New University through UCAS is 25 January for the 2025 academic year.

Buckinghamshire New University 2025 Term Dates

Programs at the University are structured into two 15-week Semesters, Semester 1 and Semester 2 respectively. Most modules will be delivered across these 15-week Semester blocks. Some modules have a duration of 30 weeks and will instead run across both Semesters. The following dates do not apply to students in pre-registration nursing, BSc, and MSc Social Work programs who should refer instead to their Programme Handbook and Placements Planner on their Blackboard Shell for details of term and holiday dates.

Buckinghamshire New University Application Requirements 2025/2026

Admission requirements for Buckinghamshire New University vary based on the courses an applicant is applying for. On the various course pages, you can find the entry requirements for each course. Below are the general admission requirements for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered at BNU for 2025:

  • Tariff for Undergraduate Courses: UCAS Tariff score between 88-128 points
  • Entry to taught postgraduate programs normally requires a first degree, but relevant experience, in some cases, can substitute for this requirement.
  • Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements for our three-year programs, or those who do not feel fully prepared for first-year entry, can be considered for the four-year program including a foundation year.
  • Applicants to these will have typically achieved between 32-56 UCAS tariff points. Applicants are required to have a minimum of IELTS 5.5 in all areas for courses with a foundation year.

Note: Applicants who do not meet our published entry requirements are encouraged to contact admissions for advice at admissions@bucks.ac.uk or attend one of our Undergraduate Open Days or Postgraduate Open Days.

  • Some programs (such as Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work, and Operating Department Practice) frequently require a higher tariff for entry which can be found on the relevant course page.
  • Applicants may also be required to undertake an additional written assessment to establish that an appropriate level of ability in the English language and mathematics has been achieved.
  • All English waivers need to be taken within the last 2 years for undergraduate applications, and 5 years for postgraduate applications. Any English qualifications such as IELTS, PTE, and TOEFL need to be taken within 2 years.

The procedure listed below is the step-by-step guide to applying for a postgraduate course at BuckinghanshireNew University:

Register To Apply:

  • If you are a UK or EU applicant and want to apply for one of the full or part-time postgraduate courses, you’ll need to register your details to apply through the BNU online application portal.

Make Your Application:

All applicants are to ensure they complete all sections of their application fully. When submitting your application, you will be advised of any additional supporting information required which may include:

  • clear copies of your highest qualification, such as your degree. You may also need to provide copies of your English language qualification
  • one written reference from either your employer or previous lecturers
  • a personal statement explaining why you wish to study this course and any relevant experience you may have
  • a clear copy of your passport and visa if applicable
  • a copy of your CV.

You don’t need to complete your application all in one go, so make sure you take your time and complete all sections fully, if there is information missing in your application, it may be rejected.

Submit Your Application:

  • Once you have submitted your application, it will be sent to the BNU admissions team for review.

Although there aren’t usually formal application deadlines for postgraduate and professional programs, it’s important to make sure you respond to any communication from the admissions team promptly. If you don’t, you may find that your application is automatically declined or rejected on your behalf, or that there aren’t any places available on your chosen course.

After BNU Application Submission:

  • BNU will send you an email to confirm that they’ve received your application. It’s worth adding your email address to your list of approved contacts so that you don’t miss any communication.
  • The University will make sure your form is fully completed and that you meet the entry requirements for your chosen course. If they need any further information to process your application, such as copies of your passport or qualifications, they’ll email you to let you know.
