Mount Royal University Admission Requirements 2026-2027

Most undergraduate (credit) programs at Mount Royal are subject to the university’s general admissions policy.

General Admission Requirements For Mount Royal University 2026-2027

Your candidate category determines your general admission requirements:

  • High school

For admittance to high school, applicants must complete five courses at the Grade 12 level. Candidates must demonstrate their knowledge of the subjects needed for their preferred program of choice in these five courses.

Your program’s unique course requirements count toward your Group A course requirements. The following courses from Group A, B, or C may be presented as an additional subject(s) for admission.

  • Post-secondary

You must meet a minimum GPA requirement to be admitted. Post-secondary applicants are often expected to have a least 2.0 Grade Point Average unless a specified (higher) GPA has been indicated for their school of choice (GPA).
Some programs demand a GPA of 2.5 or above.

  • Mature

Admission requirements for mature applicants include at least two courses at the Grade 12 level.
Depending on the precise high school courses needed for the degree you chose, more than two can be necessary.
Your program’s unique course requirements count toward your Group A course requirements.

Courses must be finished by June 30 for high school coursework to be considered for admission for the fall semester. Report all 5-credit Group A and B courses (or equivalents) that will be finished by June 30 when filling out your application.

How to Apply For Admission at Mount Royal University 2026-2027

Mount Royal University application is done online on the official website of the university. Follow the steps below to apply online for the 2026-2027 academic year:

Step 1: Be prepared to apply

  • Please make sure your list of any prior education you have completed is ready to report before beginning your application via the Apply Alberta website. This includes any post-secondary education, such as high school.
  • You must self-report any courses you are taking or intend to finish before June 30 if you are still in high school and grade 12.
  • You must also self-report any post-secondary courses you have taken that are prerequisites for admission if you are a post-secondary student.
  • You are required to pay a non-refundable $100 application fee. For this transaction to be completed, a credit card is required.

Step 2: Apply for admission

Fall Semester: From October 1 to February 1, early admission is available. Early admission is exactly what it sounds like, many colleges provide you with a window of opportunity to apply to the program(s) of your choosing before the regular admissions deadline.
Applying now is the best option because it speeds up the process and ensures that you hear back sooner.

At MRU, early admission, which lasts from October to February, is when they receive the majority of the applications and fill the majority of their programs. During that period, all applications are examined equally.
After early admission has finished, open spaces are continually and first-come, first-served granted to qualified applicants.

Step 3: Send in all final, official documentation before the deadline

To be considered for Early Admission, you are strongly advised to have your application for admission and all supporting documentation at Mount Royal by February 1. The application for admission and any supporting documents (needed for the admission assessment) must be received by this date for programs with a February 1 application deadline.

Step 4: Apply for Residence

To learn more about housing options and to apply to live on campus, go to the Residence website. Beginning on October 1st, applications are accepted.

For individuals who apply and pay their resident deposit by June 15 for the Fall Semester, housing for students is guaranteed.

Step 5: Apply for Scholarships

You must apply for early admission between October 1 and February 1 to be qualified for scholarships and bursaries.
To apply for awards, you must have your Mount Royal student ID number. Once you apply for admission, you will receive your ID through email. From November 1 to March 1, apply for scholarships and grants.

Step 6: Check your application status

A select group of applicants with a higher competitive admission average will start receiving admission decisions in November or December, and this process will continue through July and August.

To check the status of your admission online, log in to your Future Student Portal. Once you’ve applied, login details will be sent to you via email.

Step 7: Receive admission decision

Mount Royal will send you an email containing the admissions decision and any necessary next steps. A final offer of admission or a conditional offer of admission may be made to you if you are accepted to Mount Royal.
