University College Birmingham Application Requirements 2026/2027
To apply for all undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, you will need to sit an approved test in English if it is not your first language. This may include achieving an IELTS (Academic or UKVI) score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in any band, depending on your course requirements. In addition, we accept the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) 72 with minimum band scores of Reading 18, Writing 17, Listening 17, and Speaking 20 for Undergraduate (BA, BSc) and most postgraduate degrees.
- If you are applying for the International Foundation Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism, you will need a UKVI IELTS of 5.0 with no less than 4.5 in any band.
- IELTS can be taken from the British Council. Please note that the date of your IELTS award must be within two years of your degree/master’s degree start date.
UCB also accepts the following online tests for entry into degree-level courses:
- TOEFL (iBT) Home – minimum scores as above
- Language Cert – a minimum of ‘pass’ at B2 level
- IELTS Indicator – minimum scores as above

University College Birmingham Entry Requirements For India Applicants 2026/2027
UCB welcomes direct applications to University College Birmingham from Indian students; however, they do recommend utilizing their India Representatives, as they will be vital in supporting you from your initial application submission through to the offer stage and issuing you with a student visa.
Postgraduate Entry Requirements For Indians:
MA/MSc
- A 3 Year Degree with an average of at least 60%
- A 4 Year Degree with an overall average of at least 55%
PGDip
- Applicants holding a 3 Year Degree with an average between 55-60% or a 4 Year degree with an average between 50% and 55%, will be offered entry into the Postgraduate Diploma in the first instance. Those achieving a Masters’s level pass on the Postgraduate Diploma can proceed to the Master gaining the award in the same amount of time as if they had initially registered on the Master’s Programme.
Undergraduate Entry Requirements For Indians:
BA/BSc
- An overall average of at least 65% in 12th Standard from both State and Central Examination Boards.
- Advanced entry to certain undergraduate degree programs may be possible for students who hold a UK HND or India Diploma in a relevant subject.
Applicants applying for the MSc Finance & Accounting, please note the following entry requirements
- Applicants should have studied in a closely related discipline that will enable them to meet the academic rigor of the course and understand the finance and accounting modules.
University College Birmingham Undergraduate Application Process 2026/2027
There are several ways to apply for one of our undergraduate courses at University College Birmingham. We offer full-time, part-time, and online courses, for which there are different application processes. Applying For A UCB Undergraduate Course Through UCAS:
For the September entry, the official UCAS deadline for UK and EU applicants to be guaranteed equal consideration is January. UCAS can consider applications from non-UK/EU applicants up to August.
The application fee for UCAS applications in 2025 will be £22.00 for one choice or £26.50 for two to five choices.
University College Birmingham does not close the application system after the 26th of January. All applications received after this date will be considered and responded to.
If you would like to apply for more than one university, then you must apply through UCAS. This service is available to Home, EU, and Overseas applicants. In addition, University College Birmingham offers support workshops for applicants applying for Higher Education who are not familiar with the UCAS process.

UCB Direct allows prospective students who are interested in applying for September 2024 to apply directly (free of charge) without having to complete lengthy and sometimes complex application forms.
To apply directly to University College Birmingham, you must satisfy the following criteria:

University College Birmingham Postgraduate Application Process 2026/2027
University College Birmingham has a diverse number of postgraduate programs, they also offer a variety of modes of study. All postgraduate programs have September and, in many cases, January intakes. UCB advises non-EU international applicants to apply at least two to three months before the enrolment deadline, to allow for processing and documentation to be received and for sponsorship for student visas to be issued.
For Home and EU applicants as well as non-EU applicants based in the UK, the deadline for applications is 10 working days before enrolment. Non-EU applicants based outside the UK must apply 31 days before enrolment.

Receiving offers:
The admissions team will email your official offer letter to you. If your application is successful, there are two types of offers you can receive from University College Birmingham:
- Conditional – this means we have offered you a place but with conditions attached. Conditional offers are usually made to applicants who are still in education. Once you have met these conditions and provided evidence, your offer will become Unconditional.
- Unconditional – this means we have offered you a definite place and all academic requirements have been met and we are happy to accept you.
When UCB contacts you with your offer, they will also email you further information about University College Birmingham and invite you to come and visit them.

If you are a UK student enrolling on a standard-length Foundation Degree or a BA/BSc at University College Birmingham, your fee for this academic year will be £9,250. A half-year tuition fee is £4,625. There will be no change to this tuition fee for the forthcoming two academic years.
