University of Cambridge Postgraduate Application 2025/2026

University of Cambridge Postgraduate Application Deadline 2025/2026

Studying for a postgraduate qualification at the University of Cambridge can be a challenging yet rewarding experience. All applicants are to visit the course page of the course they are interested in to see the application entry requirement. For postgraduate courses, Cambridge University advises all applicants to apply as early as possible after doing sufficient research into the course, the funding available, and the University as a whole.

Applicants are to make sure they are clear on the separate application and funding deadlines. Postgraduate courses and funding applications are made via the same application form, so you must apply by whichever deadline comes first if you want to be considered for funding. Admissions Tutors consider all of the information available together before making any decisions. While the most recent academic performance carries the greatest weight, the relative importance of each element of the application varies because each student is different. No part of an application is considered in isolation.

Prospective applicants should be aware that meeting the University’s or departments’ minimum academic requirements does not guarantee entry; it is only one of the factors taken into account when academic selectors make their decision. Many other factors are also important, such as suitability for the course, proficiency in English, relevant experience, references, availability of a suitable supervisor, and the number of available places.

University of Cambridge Postgraduate Application Deadline 2025/2026

For postgraduate courses, Cambridge University advises all applicants to apply as early as possible after doing sufficient research into the course, the funding available, and the University as a whole. There are two deadlines you need to consider for your application:

1. Course Deadlines

  • All courses have a deadline beyond which applications cannot normally be considered. However, you should not wait until the day of the deadline to submit your application or supporting documents as there is no guarantee that places will still be available at that point, and your application will be withdrawn if it is not complete by the deadline. Deadlines for submission are 11:59 pm (midnight) UK time on the stated date. Visit the course page of the courses you would love to study for the application deadline.

Note: Occasionally deadlines for some subjects will be extended so do check the deadline as you may still be able to apply even if an earlier deadline has passed. Deadlines can be found on the right-hand side of the course page.

 2. Funding Deadline:

  • Three main funding deadlines apply to all three terms in the academic cycle: Michaelmas 2024, Lent 2025, and Easter 2026: You will need to submit your application by 23:59 GMT on the day of the relevant funding deadline. These deadlines relate mainly to University and UKRI funds. Departmental and College funding may have different deadlines. Make sure you check these carefully and make a note of them.

University of Cambridge Postgraduate Application Requirements 2025/2026

The requirements specified below are the minimum requirements for postgraduate admission to the University. Some departments may set higher academic or language requirements:

Academic Requirements:

Postgraduate study at the University of Cambridge is intense and very intellectually demanding, so the University has high academic entry requirements. You are normally expected to hold or to have achieved by the start of your course:

  • minimum of a good upper second class (good 2:1) honors degree from a UK university or an equivalent standard from an overseas university; and
  • completion of, or intermission from any current training or education course

To check if your international qualification meets the University minimum requirement, please consult the international section on the official website.

Note: You should be aware that meeting the University’s or departments’ minimum academic requirements does not guarantee entry; it is only one of the factors taken into account when academic selectors make their decision. Many other factors are also important, such as suitability for the course, proficiency in English, relevant experience, references, availability of a suitable supervisor, and the number of available places.

Financial Requirements:

  • Further information on fees, other costs, and funding can be found on the Finance pages. If you are made a conditional offer of admission you will then need to confirm that you can meet your fees and living costs for the length of your course. However, if you already have funding for your study in place, you can provide details of this with your application.

College membership Requirements:

  • All applicants who are made a formal offer of admission will receive an offer of College membership. The University of Cambridge is a collegiate university, and all its students are required to be members of a College.

English language Requirements

  • All applicants are required to meet a minimum English language requirement before they are admitted to your proposed course of study. For more details, and to check whether we would require evidence from you, please check the Competence in English section of the website.
