Additional Requirements
For All Applicants
If accepted, you must prove that you have fulfilled all prerequisites for a real high school diploma by the end of May in the graduating year. By the end of July of the year of matriculation, you must additionally submit an official final transcript, a GED, or a certificate of completion from your local school district or state board of education.
For Home-Schooled Applicants
Along with a list of all textbooks used, you must provide an academic portfolio or transcript that complies with the regulations of your state.
For College of Fine Arts Applicants:
You must schedule a mandatory pre-screen, audition, or portfolio review for the School of Drama or the School of Music. You must submit the necessary portfolio and creative materials for the Schools of Architecture, Art, or Design.
Carnegie Mellon University application process
The Common Application is the only one accepted by Carnegie Mellon, and all applications must be submitted online. Before You Apply;
Please read over the application procedures, deadlines, and admission requirements.
- Review the College of Fine Arts applicant information if you’re applying to the Schools of Architecture, Art, Design, Drama, and Music.
- Please be aware that the regular decision application deadline for the schools of drama and music is December 1st.
- Your application must be submitted when you are at least 13 years old.
After You’ve Applied
The Office of Admission will send you an email confirming receipt of your application one to five business days after you submit your Common Application.
After that, you can check your Where Am I in the Process? page to see which admission and financial assistance documents you have given or received from them.
