The application cost for 2025–2026 must be paid with a credit card when submitting an online application. An online application that you’ve started can be saved and returned as many times as you’d like before being submitted. You can also print an application form. Delivering a completed form to Enrolment Services may cause processing delays, although.
Each semester, 3,500 foreign students from more than 100 nations attend TRU. The committed International Admissions team at TRU provides quick application and registration help to new international students and applicants. Depending on capacity, the application period for their high-volume programs may conclude early. Always start your application process early.
Most courses allow you to sign up even if you are not a program participant. The majority of courses are offered constantly, however, some are timed with predetermined beginning and ending dates. The application window for the fall 2025 intake is open from October 1, 2024, through February 15, 2025. Thompson Rivers University Application Deadlines
The majority of TRU’s programs accept applications starting on October 1.
The deadlines for applying for admission are as follows unless otherwise specified as a program-specific deadline.
Not all programs have intakes in the winter and summer.
An admission decision will be made before the commencement of registration for those who submit their applications by these deadlines and include all necessary supporting paperwork.
If there are still openings, certain programs will accept applications after these dates.

TRU General Admission Requirements
Most TRU programs require a BC high school diploma or an equivalent.
The program admission requirements list any exceptions to this rule.
If you have finished: you could have the equivalent of a BC high school diploma.
- the BC Adult Graduation (Adult Dogwood) diploma, or previously the ABE Provincial diploma
- or the General Education Diploma (GED)
English language requirements
The official language of instruction at TRU is English.
You must be able to show that you are a proficient language user.
Before admission, TRU will confirm that applicants meet the requirements for language competency.
You can complete additional coursework, take an approved English placement test, or earn the equivalence if you don’t meet the English language requirement for your program:
- Additional Coursework: University Preparation courses (campus or distance)
- Assessment: TRU Accuplacer, Language Proficiency Index (LPI)

Go over every page on the website for your program. Because each program has various requirements, be sure you are aware of them. These additional websites can aid you in understanding the application procedure.
Apply online
Please familiarise yourself with the specific application procedure on your program’s website. On educationplannerbc.ca, the majority of applications will be made online. Applications for open learning are possible there. If you have any inquiries regarding the application procedure, email gradadmissions@tru.ca. Note: Following the conclusion of the online process, documents will be distributed individually.
Send in other documents after the online process
You will submit your papers after submitting your online application at educationplannerbc.ca. Reference letters, transcripts, English language tests, and other papers may be included. Following your application, Graduate Admissions will send you an email with instructions on how to submit the final application materials.
Application is complete
Following the completion of steps 1-3, Thompson Rivers University will contact you regarding the offer.

International Student Application Instructions-How to apply
Application for admission to undergraduate or post-baccalaureate programs at TRU.
Step 1: Apply online – To complete your application on the EPBC website, you will need to pay a non-refundable application cost of $100 CDN. Please email iapply@tru.ca or igrad@tru.ca if you encounter a problem with the EducationPlannerBC website’s payment system. a Master’s degree
Step 2: Upload all required documents and transcripts – Please see the details including transcripts below (please note that your application cannot be processed if there are missing requirements).
Step 3: A letter of conditional acceptance will be sent to you if your application is accepted. Normally, this procedure takes a week.
Step 4: Make your full commitment fee payment and courier your original/official transcripts to International Admissions.
Step 5: You will receive a final acceptance letter that you can use to apply for a Student Visa/Study Permit. Email to: iapply@tru.ca
