UKZN Undergraduate Application 2025-2026
The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) Online Application 2025-2026 Undergraduate will be open on 1 April 2024 and close on 30 September 2024. Therefore, all South African first-time Undergraduate applicants applying to UKZN should apply via CAO at www.cao.ac.za for the 2025-2026 academic cycle.
Please remember the following:
- All those who are currently registered and want to change programmes, use your existing student number when you are applying.
- All professional degrees cannot start a new degree in the second semester.
- Returning students who wish to change their addresses will only be done during registration.
Required Documents for UKZN Undergraduate Applications 2025-2026
Please, provide the following supporting documents before submitting an online application at UKZN for the 2025 academic year
- Certified copy of your ID/Passport
- A valid study visa to study in SA if you are an International applicant.
- Make sure that you have the USAF/SAQA documents to be uploaded
- Certified copy of your National Senior/Matric Certificate or O/A Levels or relevant school leaving qualification/certificate.
- If you are an international applicant provide proof from Universities South Africa (previously known as HESA), that you qualify for admission to degree studies at South African universities
- Certified copies of your degree certificate(s), academic record, and certificate of conduct, if you attended other universities.
- Proof of English proficiency for International applicants from non-English speaking countries.
- South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluations if the previous qualification(s) was/were obtained at foreign universities (outside South Africa).
- A research proposal/proposed title of the dissertation/thesis if you are applying for a Master’s Degree or Ph.D.
How to Apply for UKZN Undergraduate Online Application 2025-2026
Applying for admission to study at UKZN for an Undergraduate programme for the 2025 academic year is basically online. First-time entering South African undergraduate applicants must apply through the Central Application Office (CAO).
To Apply via CAO, follow the step-by-step below:
- Go to CAO website at www.cao.ac.za
- Click on the “Apply” tab at the top menu of the page
- Read the application instructions before you continue
- After that, click on “Continue with Application”
- Enter your ID number or Passport number and click on the “Submit” button
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Continue with Application”
- Enter the required details and click “Next”
- Then, click on “Continue with Online Application”
- Follow the instructions and complete the online application
- After that, submit your online application for evaluation
The CAO will confirm receipt of applications by letter, fax or email; applicants must confirm their basic information and their choices made, provide information on special programme requirements, and list outstanding documentation. The CAO advises applicants via SMS as soon as a decision has been made.
To Apply Directly to UKZN 2025, follow the steps below:
- Visit UKZN website at www.ukzn.ac.za
- Download an application form online
- List your programme choices on page one of the application form. Please write the name of the programme in full.
- Provide your existing student number on page one of the application form if you have been registered before.
- Indicate if you would like to be considered for accommodation in one of the UKZN residences.
- Attach your proof of payment.
- Return your completed application form with all the required documents and proof of payment of an application fee to the address on the front cover to reach us before or on the closing date or email it to Applications@ukzn.ac.za.
- New applicants will be provided with a UKZN student number.
- Your student number must be quoted in all correspondence/enquiries to the UKZN.
- The UKZN will advise you of the outcome of your application in writing or by SMS.
