To help you pay for your tuition and living expenses while you are a student, there are also scholarships, bursaries, and other financial aid alternatives you may be qualified for. You will enrol in your course as a full-fee-paying student as an international student.

Your tuition is determined by the courses you take, not the subjects you study. You will be charged for every subject you enrol in each academic year. You should also include additional charges like Overseas Student Health Cover, textbooks, lodging, and other living expenses. Your tuition costs are determined by how many subjects you take each year.

Since this is covered under the exchange agreement between your home school and the University of Melbourne, exchange students are not required to pay tuition to the University of Melbourne. Only students who have been granted permanent residency and who are enrolled in a full-fee-paying position are subject to the tuition fee terms and conditions of the university and the subject fee calculation below.

Study Abroad

Students who enrol in three or four courses each semester while studying abroad pay a fixed cost. Each semester you are enrolled, fees are assessed at the announced rate for that semester. The table below displays these fees.

You will be considered a graduate student and be charged graduate study abroad costs if you enrol in three or more graduate-level courses.
Students participating in graduate study abroad programs will be enrolled in graduate bands 1, 2, or 3, based on the majority of your topics’ discipline areas.

University of Melbourne Tuition Fees 2025

To confirm acceptance of your offer, you must make a minimum deposit payment of AUD 17,000 by the date mentioned in your offer letter.

Your first instalment of the $17,000 payment is applied to your tuition costs.
Once you have registered, your student account will provide you with an invoice for the remaining tuition payments for the semester (or study period), which you must pay by the due date noted on the invoice.

University of Melbourne Entry Requirements Study 2025

Check to see if you qualify to apply for a domestic undergraduate degree. You must be informed of each course’s minimum entry criteria, subject prerequisites, English language requirements, and fees before applying.
You may be eligible for a Graduate Degree Package if your ATAR is high enough.

Minimum eligibility

Additional requirements for applying to undergraduate programs include:

• completed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or a comparable degree; this includes Australian and New Zealand students who studied abroad or interstate and who finished their secondary education abroad.
• completed and received the necessary grades in each of the degree-required subjects
• completed any additional degree requirements
• except those qualified for one of the special entry programs, who have obtained the required ATAR (or equivalent) for entry to the degree.
• met the language requirements in English.
