UBC Academic Calendar January

Holiday instead of New Year’s Day. University closed, 2 January 2025
UBC Entry-to-Practice PharmD program: PHRM 471/472/473 8-week Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience Block 5/6 begins (January 2, 2025, to February 24, 2025, inclusive).
UBC Entry-to-Practice PharmD program: PHRM 473 4-week Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience Block 5 begins ( January 2, 2025, to January 27, 2025, inclusive)
UBC Flexible PharmD program: 4-week Practicum Block 5 begins (January 2, 2025, to January 27, 2025, inclusive)
UBC Flexible PharmD program: 6-week Practicum Block 5/6 begins ( January 2, 2025, to February 10, 2025, inclusive)
UBC Full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Business Analytics (MBAN), and Master of Management (MM) Programs: First day of Period 3 (January 3 – February 11, 2025)
UBC Master of Engineering Leadership (MEL) and Master of Health Leadership (MHLP) Programs: The first day of orientation and classes begins on 4 January 2025
UBC Graduate Studies: GradStart Orientation Welcome Event for all new domestic and international graduate students.International Welcome: International Student Orientation for new international students (including the US) in degree or diploma programs. Teacher Education Program: School-based UBC Orientation Practicum – 1 day-a-week practicum begins (January 5 to March 9 inclusive) (Elementary and Middle Years option).
UBC Graduate Studies: Last day for final master’s theses and doctoral dissertations to be accepted by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies for the December 31 program end date. Must be approved and accepted by 4:00 pm. Students who meet this deadline will not be assessed tuition and student fees for 2025 Winter Session Term 2 is 6 January 2025
UBC Professional Master of Business Administration (PMBA) Program: First day of mandatory Professional Residency I and II (January 7 – 14, 2025)
UBC Student Housing: Winter Session Residences open for Term 2 at noon on Sunday, 8 January 2025
UBC Start of Winter Session Term 2.M.Sc. Genetic Counselling Program (Faculty of Medicine): Application deadline.Student Housing: Winter Session Residences open for Term 2 at noon., 9 January 2025
UBC Last day for payment of the second installment of fees for registration and course changes made on or before December 31. Students who have not paid their fees are placed on financial hold; further registration activity is not permitted, grades are not released, and graduation diplomas are withheld. Students have assessed a processing fee of $35 and interest is assessed on the outstanding balance until it is paid in full (see Fees). International exchange and visiting Student Orientation for students entering Winter Session on 11 January 2025
UBC Deadline for currently enrolled undergraduate students to apply for a change of program or a change of campus for the Winter Session. The following programs have an extended application deadline of May 15 for change of program requests from current UBC students: BA, BSFN, BSAB, and BSGR. UBC Meeting of the Senate is on 18 January 2025
UBC Winter Session Term 2 courses: Last day for change in registration and withdrawal for most Term 2 courses without a withdrawal standing of W recorded on a student’s academic record. Student Service Centre remains open for course withdrawals with a W standing. Refer to the online Course Schedule for specific drop/withdrawal dates on 20 January 2025
UBC Graduate Studies: Last day for withdrawal from installment-based tuition program for 100% refund. Courses dropped through the Student Service Centre is Sunday, 22 January 2023

UBC Family Day. University closed. Central study areas of the Irving K. Barber Learning will be open. Winter Session Term 2 midterm break begins for most faculties (February 20 to 24 inclusive). Lectures and laboratories were canceled. Some branches of the Library and other facilities remain open until 20 February 2025
UBC Master of Business Analytics (MBAN) Program: First day of a 1-week intensive course (February 21 – 24, 2025).Teacher Education Program: School-based extended practicum (EDUC 421) begins (February 21 to May 12 inclusive) (Secondary Option)
