The academic year, at Sol Plaatje University (SPU), is now accepting applications. Through the online application system, prospective students can submit an application to study at the university. Application fees are not necessary to apply. Both undergraduate and graduate degrees are available from SPU. Undergraduate and postgraduate applications are now open and will close on 30 November.
Students who wish to apply online must have a computer or laptop that is connected to the internet and a working email address. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS/ sol plaatje university documents required
- For admission to Sol Plaatje University’s (SPU) degree programs in 2024–2025, the university has established the minimum academic requirements.
- The requirements are determined by the performance of applicants in the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams in South Africa.
- The admission of candidates who have diplomas from other examination systems will be determined on an individual basis.
- Please take note that even if you meet the minimum requirements for admission shown above, you may still not be accepted into the SPU study program.
- Based on your academic standing and program space availability, your admission will ultimately be decided.
- Your chances of being accepted to study at SPU are improved if your academic performance exceeds this requirement.

Documents required to apply
If you are currently in Grade 12, you need two documents to apply:
- A certified copy of your ID
- Final Grade 11 results
Three documents are required to apply if you have completed your Grade 12 or matriculation:
A declaration in writing that you have attended a different higher education institution (university or college). If you haven’t attended college or a university since graduating from high school, you must state this in the affidavit.
- A certified copy of your ID
- Your final Grade 12 results
If you attended another institution for college, you will require:
- a certified copy of your academic record and your former institution or university’s code of conduct
- A certified copy of your ID
